Until recently, I've always used shadow and an angled brush to fill in my brows. I thought it looked more natural than a pencil. That was, of course, until I discovered waterproof eyebrow pencils.
With so many new brow products launching each and every month, it was only a matter of time before I discovered the product that would make me set aside my go-to filling technique. And, alas, the day has come. I've officially made the switch to waterproof eyebrow pencils, and I'm never going back. Just to be clear, I fully attribute this life-changing decision to the specific pencil involved: The BrowGal's Skinny Eyebrow Pencil. The BrowGal Skinny Eyebrow Pencil $23Shop
My love for the product is multifaceted, but it all begins with the pigment. The lead is harder than anything I've ever used before. That may sound odd, but it's actually a good thing, because hard lead lets you emulate the look of real hair with each stroke. If the pencil is too soft, you end up with solid color, and brows that look filled in.
Then there's the cap. It is a one-turn sharpener (genius), so I always have a perfectly on-point pencil. And, with a spoolie on the other end, it's truly a one-stop wonder to brow shaping. Best of all, once it's on, it lasts all day (and then some).
Speaking of duration, it's worth noting that this eyebrow pencil touts itself as a long-wearing product but, unlike many others, it actually lives up to the classification. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so my brows can take some time to sculpt. As such, when I have an early morning ahead, I've been known to wash my face in the evening, all the while avoiding my eyebrows so that they don't rinse off. On more occasions than I'd care to admit, I've gone to sleep with impeccably penciled brows (if I do say so myself), woken up, and went on my merry way with yesterday's arches. I even ran into a fellow The BrowGal enthusiast, who told me she teaches back-to-back hot yoga classes in this pencil and walks out eyebrows unscathed. Sweat-proof and sleep-proof-can your eyebrow pencil say that?
While I adore this particular eyebrow pencil, I understand and acknowledge that not all makeup products cater to all complexions and brow colors. However, that said, I'd like to point out that, as a special note for blondes, the 05 shade is the best taupe I've ever seen. It's not at all warm (so it won't turn your brows orange), and it's not too dark. In addition to taupe, the must-try eyebrow pencil is available in black, light brown, medium brown, dark brown, and golden blonde. So, what're you waiting for?
After selecting your skinny eyebrow pencil color of choice, you might want to add The BrowGal's Eyebrow Setting Gel to your cart as well. Doing so will help you sculpt and set the year's beloved feather brow trend and also give you the option to rock combed arches sans pencil on days when you don't have time to sketch them out.The BrowGal Eyebrow Setting Gel $20Shop
